Willow St. by opening time Monday, ready to conduct business when the location reopened its doors after months of renovations.

Willow St. early Monday morning, which was the day of reopening after the facility had been closed for renovations since Oct. 30.” captionposition=”right”] The office had closed at noon on Oct. 30 for three-plus months of work, and it resumed operations on Monday, Feb. 22 shortly after 8am.
One individual waiting in the appointment line was Jazmin Chavez, who said she was not aware of the renovation work but had scheduled her appointment three days prior to take a driver’s test.
When informed of the changes within the office, Chavez said, “Well, then I guess I’m lucky I was here.”
When patrons were let in, there was new office furniture in the employee work area, control room, test area, test monitor area, licensing-exam area and manager’s office, as well as new flooring, fresh paint and updated restrooms that meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Jessica Gonzalez from the Office of Public Affairs/Media Relations for the California DMV told the Signal Tribune that each year the DMV conducts renovations at different field offices, depending on need. The Long Beach location was determined to be a site that needed updating.
“So, it’s better efficiency for both customers and employees, in the way that they can get through the line,” Gonzalez said. “Usually, when we do these renovations, that’s the number-one thing we’re looking for,” Gonzalez said, “to help more customers in a shorter amount of time.”
