Firefighters and workers from Long Beach and Los Angeles County were busy Saturday afternoon trying to stop flooding in the Long Beach Peninsula community due to the latest rainstorm.
Flooding was reported around 2 p.m. affecting residences along 67th Place, Long Beach Firefighter Brian Fisk told City News Service.
A team from the city was working to clear debris from storm drains, and crews from Los Angeles County Public Works were making sure pumps were operating, Fisk said.
Rain was expected to fall through midnight, he said.
A news videographer reported seeing residents building barricades to protect homes from flooding and observed eastbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard closed at 63rd Place.
Spokesman Richard Mejia of the Long Beach Police Department could not confirm any street closures.
A little farther to the northwest, all lanes of the Long Beach (710) Freeway were flooded between Anaheim and Willow streets.
