Long Beach man killed in shooting

A 22-year-old Long Beach man is dead after a shooting that took place earlier this week.
On Monday, Jan. 1, around 12:30am, officers were dispatched to the area of 6th Street and Temple Avenue regarding a possible assault-with-a-deadly-weapon call.
When officers arrived, they located a male subject who had been struck in the torso and lower body by gunfire. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported him to a local hospital in serious condition. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation, and it is unknown if the incident is gang-related.
The victim has been identified as Gerald Jackson III of Long Beach.
