A Long Beach resident who had been struck by gunfire succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased July 10, a day after the shooting, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
Tomas Palmas, 42, was identified as the victim of the attack. The motive for the shooting is still unclear, and no suspect is in custody at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
On July 9, at approximately 10:36pm, LBPD officers responded to the 1700 block of Cerritos Avenue in regard to a shooting.
When officers arrived, they discovered a male adult victim on the street who had been struck by gunfire. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition until his death.
