Long Beach Memorial Medical Center’s current COO Diana Hendel has been appointed CEO of Long Beach Memorial and Miller Children’s Hospital. Hendel succeeds the hospitals’ current CEO, Terry A. Belmont, who steps down on January 15.
“As the succession committee met to provide input and guidance and evaluated the merits of selecting a candidate known to MemorialCare, Diana became the obvious choice,” said MemorialCare Medical Centers COO Tammie Brailsford. “Her combination of clinical and hospital operational roles and shared service experience uniquely prepare her to lead our largest and most complex campus.”
Hendel has served as the COO of Long Beach Memorial for the past two years. She received her bachelor of science degree in biology from University of California, Irvine, and a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco. Hendel began her career at Long Beach Memorial as a clinical pharmacy resident, later taking on various leadership roles throughout the healthcare industry, including vice president of Anaheim Memorial, executive director for MemorialCare and the Physician Society, and administrator for the San Clemente campus of Saddleback Memorial.
