Right when Long Beach residents have put away their holiday cheer for another year, local nonprofit organization New Generations NG is preparing to unwrap a warm welcome for neighbors and friends.
As a part of the City of Long Beach Peace Week activities, “The Gift” will be held from noon to 3pm on Saturday, Jan. 8 at Washington Middle School soccer field, located at 1450 Cedar Ave.
“The Gift” offers a carnival of fun for families and neighbors. Families can play games, watch performances and even get a mini-makeover with free haircuts and manicures. Visitors can enjoy dozens of activity booths while participating in jalapeño-eating contests and win prizes.
New Generations NG is hosting the event with the Long Beach Neighborhood Services Bureau, City of Long Beach DHHS Weed and Seed Program, Worship Center of Long Beach and other local groups and businesses.
“It’s been a tough time for many people in Long Beach,” said Alma Campos, co-founder of New Generations NG. “This event will give families a chance to relax while we provide them the gifts of kindness and community support.”
Peace Week, created by Sixth District Councilmember Dee Andrews, is a week of selected activities designed to unify and uplift the community.
