The Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) is organizing a series of job fairs to fill its available part-time positions.

“These job fairs are a great resource for those seeking employment to learn more about our City’s recreation programs,” Mayor Rex Richardson said in a public statement. “This is just one of many employment opportunities offered across our City departments.”

The PRM Community Recreation Services Bureau staff will present information on various recreation programs that are hiring or that will start hiring soon. These programs include Aquatics, Day Camps, Youth Sports, Older Adults, Teens, Mobile Recreation and Virtual Recreation.

Attendees will have the chance to meet supervisors and current staff to gain insight into the role of a Long Beach Recreation Leader. More details about open positions can be found on the Job Opportunities webpage at LBParks.org, where individuals are also encouraged to apply.

There are two information-only job fairs scheduled; the first on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McBride Park (1550 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.) and the second on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at El Dorado Park West (2800 N. Studebaker Rd.) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. These events will focus on current and upcoming employment opportunities.

The third job fair is planned for Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Doris Topsy-Elvord Community Center in Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to the information about open positions, attendees will have the opportunity to apply in person, and may even participate in interviews.
