A 44-year-old homeless woman who was found dead near El Dorado Park in Long Beach was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
Long Beach police and firefighters were summoned about 11:45 a.m. Friday to the area of the San Gabriel River and Willow Street on a report of a body that did not appear to have died from natural causes, according to a Long Beach Police Department release.
Arriving officers determined the death might have been a homicide, police officials said.
The county medical examiner identified the victim dead at the scene as Priscilla Portella, and the cause of her death remains under investigation.
Anyone with information was asked to call homicide detectives Ethan Shear and Chasen Contreras at 562-570-7244 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
