Long Beach summer camps start June 16

Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine will host summer day camps at local parks and beaches from June 16 to Aug. 22, offering kids ages 5 to 12 a chance to enjoy games, crafts and exercise during their break.

Park Day Camps

Held at the following eight local parks, these camps run weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ($115/week), with extended care from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. ($150/week):

  • Bixby Park (130 Cherry Ave.)
  • El Dorado Park West (2800 N. Studebaker Road)
  • Pan American Park (5157 Centralia St.)
  • Silverado Park (1545 W. 31st St.)
  • Stearns Champions Park (4520 E. 23rd St.)
  • Veterans Park (101 E. 28th St.)
  • Wardlow Park (3457 Stanbridge Ave.)
  • Whaley Park (5620 E. Atherton St.)

Aquatics Camps

Two aquatic programs are also available: Belmont Junior Beach Camp (ages 5–7) at Belmont Plaza Pool (4320 E. Olympic Plaza) and Bayshore Beach Camp (ages 8–12) at Bayshore Park (5415 E. Ocean Blvd.). Activities include water sports, crafts, swimming lessons and for older children, marine biology lessons. The weekly rate is $165, with optional extended care ($28–$56/week).
