Ocean Blvd., on Saturday, May 14 at 8pm for its Pops! concert finale of the season.
Matt Catingub, longtime Pops conductor of the Honolulu and Hawaii symphonies will lead the contemporary Hawaiian band Hapa and the orchestra.
“We are excited to bring such talent in world music to the Long Beach Arena,” said Kelly Ruggirello, executive director of the Long Beach Symphony. “Our Pops! concerts allow us the opportunity to mix contemporary styles and showcase popular artists like Hapa with our exceptional Long Beach Symphony musicians.”
The music and sound of Hapa combine American folk-rock guitar with poetic lyrics inspired by Hawaiian and Pacific Island history and mythology.
Concert-goers are encouraged to bring picnic dinners and libations into the Long Beach Arena or to order catering from an approved caterers list to enjoy at over 300 concert floor tables and loge seating. The night will include dancers, a steel drum band, flowers and more. Guests will be greeted with shell necklaces at the door and encouraged throughout the night to take to three separate dance floors to sway to the music.
Doors will open at 6:30pm for dining and mingling, and the concert will begin at 8pm. Seating options range from 10-top tables to 4-top Bistro area seating to seats in the loge, which start at $21.
