Long Beach Transit (LBT) last week announced that its seven-day water-taxi service will begin on Friday, May 24, in conjunction with the Memorial Day weekend.
“Memorial Day is the start of summer and LBT’s daily water-taxi service,” said LBT President and CEO Kenneth A. McDonald in a press release. “With the weather warming up and school winding down, it is an ideal time to cruise on our popular AquaLink and AquaBus vessels.”
LBT’s water taxis will operate every day through Labor Day and offer service to Alamitos Bay, The Aquarium of the Pacific, Shoreline Village, the Queen Mary and Hotel Maya.
In March, LBT expanded to year-round water taxi service by offering weekend service in the fall, winter and spring. Memorial Day weekend marks the start of seven-day service.
AquaBus is $1 each way and AquaLink costs $5 each way. LBT is also offering a weekend pass to ride buses and boats Friday through Sunday for $15. Customers can pay cash for the one-day fare or use LBT’s mobile app to buy tickets and the new weekend pass.
AquaLink carries up to 75 passengers and will have direct service between Alamitos Bay Landing, 100 N. Marina Dr., and the Aquarium of the Pacific dock.
“Whether our customers are taking a relaxing day trip or cruising to fun summer events in downtown or Alamitos Bay, AquaLink and AquaBus are great ways to get around and a unique Long Beach experience,” McDonald said.
