Long Beach Youth Week invites those 13-26 to advocate for themselves and their community

The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Youth Development has announced Youth Week 2025, a free three-day event aimed at empowering local youth ages 13-26.

Youth Week 2025 will take place May 15-17 with interactive workshops, activities and resources to engage young people around the city. 

“Youth Week reflects our continued commitment to uplifting youth voices by providing them significant opportunities to engage, connect and build vital knowledge and skills,” said Mayor Rex Richardson in a public statement. “This May, we invite our community to join us as we inspire growth, promote play and foster advocacy in our next generation of leaders.”

Each day of Youth Week will have a distinct theme: 

  • GrowThursday, May 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Youth will get the chance to participate in workforce and education workshops and hear from the Youth Advisory Council at the Economic Development Department’s Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network Youth Career Services Center (508 W. Willow St.). Participants will also be able to explore potential career and educational opportunities at this event. 
  • Play – Friday, May 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Local young people are invited to explore an afternoon of health and wellness with a resource fair, an art workshop and interactive wellness activities at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.). 
  • Advocate – Saturday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The final day of Youth Week will commence with an event focused on youth advocacy and civic discussions with a Mayor’s Town Hall where youth can make their voices heard at Long Beach City Hall (411 W. Ocean Blvd.).

Through Youth Week, attendees will get to explore career, education, advocacy and skill-building opportunities within a community experience. The full events, activities and entertainment schedule for Youth Week will be announced in the coming weeks.

Youth Week 2025 is part of the City’s Youth and Emerging Adults Strategic Plan and is funded by youth development dollars from Measure US.
