After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Friends of Los Cerritos will be holding its Los Cerritos 3-Mile Fun Run at Los Cerritos Park on Saturday, May 7.
“We’re delighted that we can hold the event again,” said Karen Miller of Friends of Los Cerritos. “It’s been very frustrating the last couple of years.”
The first Fun Run was held in 2019 and the Friends of Los Cerritos planned to make it an annual event until the pandemic arrived.
Miller said the Friends of Los Cerritos are aiming to get 100 runners to participate.
Tickets to participate in the event cost $25 for adults and $15 for children 14 and under. Those interested in participating can buy their tickets online or contact Karen Miller at 1 (562) 756-4144 if they want to pay using cash or check.
Every runner will be placed in a group by gender and age, and the fastest three runners in each category will be awarded medals.
Each participant will receive a commemorative shirt and refreshments after they run.
According to Miller, volunteers are needed to help set up the morning of the event, to assist with registration, and to serve as “human cones” directing traffic.
The Friends of Los Cerritos is a neighborhood group that plans and hosts numerous events throughout the Los Cerritos neighborhood.
“Our sole purpose is to bring together people in the neighborhood who have similar interests, with the idea that we have a better neighborhood and a safer neighborhood if people know each other,” Miller said of Friends of Los Cerritos.
