A man has been arrested for installing a camera inside the employee restroom of a local business.
On Sunday, Aug. 19, Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) officers were dispatched to the Applebee’s restaurant located at 899 E. Spring St. regarding a video camera found inside the employees’ restroom. The camera was used to capture footage of various employees, according to the SHPD. There is no evidence that patrons of the restaurant were videotaped, police said.
Applebee’s employees and management are cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
Signal Hill Police detectives working the case suspect the camera was planted by an employee. Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Edgar Garcia-Franco, 49, who was arrested and booked for multiple counts of invasion of privacy.
