Man dies riding stolen motorcycle in North Long Beach

A 24-year-old man died in a hospital Monday, June 14 from injuries he sustained in a collision while riding a stolen motorcycle in Long Beach.

Officers responded to the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 67th Way at about 5:30 p.m. on June 7 on reports of the collision and found the man suffering from severe injuries, according to a Long Beach Police Department statement.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation into the collision revealed the man was riding a reported stolen 2020 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Long Beach Boulevard at high speeds when he struck a Lincoln MKX SUV that was attempting to make a left turn at 67th Way, police said.

The 68-year-old woman driving the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. She was not injured in the crash.

Police were informed by hospital staff that the man died of his injuries Monday. He was identified as a Long Beach resident, though his name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
