A man was fatally shot inside an open business during a “verbal dispute” on Sunday, Jan. 16 near the 1900 block of West Willow Street, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 10:15 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

Officers rendered aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The suspect was last seen exiting the business and fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

The identity of the victim and notification of next of kin will be conducted by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner–Coroner’s Office.
