Man fleeing shooting crashes into parked vehicle near Retro Row in Long Beach

A man survived a shooting near Long Beach’s Retro Row on Thursday, Jan. 27 after escaping from two suspects who fired at him.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of Rose Avenue and 4th Street at approximately 7 p.m. on Jan. 27.

According to LBPD, a preliminary investigation found that the victim was sitting in his vehicle on the 1900 block of E. 4th Street when two male adult suspects began shooting at him.

The victim attempted to flee but crashed into a parked vehicle in the 300 block of Cherry Avenue, according to police.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body and was taken to a local hospital in a stable condition by the Long Beach Fire Department.

The two suspected shooters fled on foot, according to LBPD.

LBPD recovered evidence at the scene, including bullet casings.

Additional information about the suspects and their motive for the shooting is currently unknown, according to LBPD.

Gang detectives from LBPD arrived at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
