A man who authorities say worked at a Valero gas station was fatally shot in North Long Beach and detectives Wednesday are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Long Beach Police Department officers received a 911 call at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday at 6944 Atlantic Avenue and upon their arrival, they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body, according to LBPD reports.
The victim was taken to a hospital by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, where he was later pronounced dead.
A witness told ABC 7 that he heard at least five gunshots at the gas station.
According to reports, the victim confronted the suspect in the parking lot of the gas station. The suspect shot the victim and left the area before police arrived.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner are working to identify the victim and notify the next of kin.
Police were seen searching a Nissan sedan for possible evidence outside the gas station.
There was no suspect description and police are still searching for a motive.
