Rancho Los Cerritos is inviting the community to celebrate the arrival of the seasons with guided tours of its lush historical grounds.
The historic site boasts many unique plants and features. Some trees date back to the 1840s when John Temple, owner of the 27,000-acre Rancho from 1844 to 1866, started the garden. In 1931, renowned landscape architect Ralph Cornell redesigned and transformed the gardens for Llewellyn Bixby, Sr. into something even more magical as he added more unique flowers and plants to the Rancho gardens.
Guests can enjoy the gardens on their own during public hours, or learn more about their history and botany with a docent-led Garden Tour on the first Sunday of every month at 2:30pm. The tour is free, but reservations should be made by calling (562) 570-1755.
After visiting the gardens, guests can enjoy a free docent-led tour of the adobe house and browse through the museum gift shop. Rancho Los Cerritos is located at 4600 Virginia Road.
