Power 4 Youth, an academic mentoring program for middle school students, will host a no-obligation information meeting for prospective volunteers on Tuesday, May 3 at 6:30pm at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 370 Junipero Ave., one of the five community sites that the organization operates.
The program is looking for adults who can meet weekly one-on-one with a youth at Power 4 Youth sites to assist with academic help through building a caring mentor relationship with a young person, according to the organization. Free training and support are provided for all mentors.
“We all need someone who will inspire us to do better than we know now. Become someone who inspires, uplifts, and elevates a youth’s life,” said Samana Budhathoki, match supervisor. “Our youth need and want the support from caring adults. It’s almost the end of the school year, and we really hope to match our new and wait-listed students with mentors as soon as possible. So, the need for volunteers is greater than ever before.”
Budhathoki added that the requested amount of time would be about an hour and a half each week.
