A local man is dead after a motorcylcle accident last weekend.
On Saturday, July 1, at approximately 5:45pm, officers from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) responded to 53rd Street and Orange Avenue on a report of a motorcycle-involved traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers found that the collision involved a 1992 Suzuki, non-street legal dirt bike. The driver of the motorcycle was unconscious and not breathing.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the collision scene and determined the driver, a 32-year-old male resident of Long Beach, deceased.
The preliminary investigation of the collision revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on 53rd Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle as he passed through Orange Avenue and collided with the raised curb on the west side of the street. After colliding with the curb, the driver and motorcycle passed between residences in the 5300 block of Orange Avenue and collided with a cinderblock wall.
