MTW to present regional premiere of Monty Python’s Spamalot

Musical Theatre West (MTW) has announced the opening of the regional premiere of Monty Python’s Spamalot, which will preview Friday, June 29 with an opening night on Friday, June 30. The production will run for 14 performances through July 15, and it will include the original Broadway sets and costumes. Each Musical Theatre West production is created from the ground up at its rehearsal studios in Long Beach using a blend of both professional actors from Broadway, Hollywood and national tours, as well as local talent.
Davis Gaines, who has performed the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera more than 2,000 times, will play the role of King Arthur.
According to a press release by MTW, Gaines has performed as the Phantom for more than 5 million people during his run on Broadway, in Los Angeles and in San Francisco, where he received the Bay Area Critics’ Award for Best Actor.
Gaines returns to MTW after his roles as Don Quixote (Cervantes) in Man of La Mancha and Richard Henry Lee in MTW’s 2010 production of 1776.
