The Arts Council for Long Beach (ACLB) and Council District 7 are seeking community input to help artist Trinh Mai develop a mural for Veterans Park.

The mural at Veterans Park will be the newest installment in the “7 for 7 Mural Project,” which aims to commission seven murals in seven different Long Beach parks, with the goal of beautifying what was previously District 7.

Other murals included in the project include one at Los Cerritos Park, even though it is no longer in District 7 after the City’s redistricting process in 2021.

Mai’s mural will be approximately 20 feet wide and 10 feet tall and will be located on the south side of the recreation center.

Some of the questions included on the survey are:

  • How do you identify as a community member of Long Beach’s Veterans Park?
  • In which Council District do you reside?
  • What comes to mind when thinking about a thriving life in Long Beach?
  • What themes/visuals do you associate with District 7 and/or greater Long Beach?

To take the online survey by Aug. 31, click here.

[A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the deadline for the survey was Sept. 30, and that there would be a community meeting on Sept. 15. The Signal Tribune regrets these errors.]
