Vice Mayor Val Lerch and 9th District staff will receive awards for their outstanding contributions to California Pools of Hope, Inc., a nonprofit therapeutic aquatic center for the elderly and people with disabilities.
The awards will be presented on Saturday, October 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Annual Evelyn duPont Awards Dinner. The theme for this year’s event is “Celebrating 45 Years of Providing Hope” and the evening will include wine tasting, international dinner buffet and silent auction under the stars at Buono’s Authentic Pizzeria located at 250 W. Ocean Boulevard.
Rich Archbold, executive editor of the Press Telegram, will act as master of ceremony. Awards will also be presented to Earl B. and Loraine H. Miller Children’s Foundation, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., City of Paramount, NRG Energy, Paramount Petroleum Corporation, and Union Pacific Railroad for their support of the aquatic programs.
Out A Sight, a blind acapella trio, who sings ’50s and ’60s doo-wop style music, will provide entertainment for the event.
The awards dinner is a major fundraiser and all proceeds will support California Pools of Hope efforts in providing freedom to the elderly, disabled and chronically ill to improve their health and fitness.
The organization provides an ideal warm water environment for physical activity so people of all abilities can enjoy movement and a better quality of life.
