Firefighters extinguished a residential fire in the 2300 block of Lewis Avenue in Signal Hill on Sunday, Sept. 21, according to Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) Senior Police Officer Crista Martinez.
Around 6:13pm Sunday, the SHPD received several 911 calls reporting a house fire. Officers arrived to find the residence engulfed in black smoke and flames, and they began evacuating the neighboring residences, according to Martinez.
Firefighters from Los Angeles County Fire Station #60 responded and extinguished the fire at approximately 7:05pm with the assistance of firefighters from Long Beach Fire Department Station #7, Lakewood Station #122, Carson Station 127, Engine #45, Engine #9 and LA County Fire emergency support truck #94.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation and no injuries were reported.
