Nonprofit that helps abused, neglected children seeking toy donations

After fulfilling food needs for 102 families for Thanksgiving with a total of 498 children and adults, the nonprofit For The Child is now focusing on toys for the holidays, according to the organization.

“A recent benefit at The Laugh Factory brought in almost 200 toys for this holiday season, but we have over 300 children who will otherwise not experience a visit from Santa this season,” said Denise Dahlhausen, For The Child’s development director.

New, unwrapped toys can be brought to For The Child at 4565 California Ave., in Bixby Knolls. Toy delivery will be the weekend of Dec. 13 and 14.

Since 1974, For The Child has focused on strengthening families and making a difference in the lives of children who have faced abuse or neglect. At the heart of all of For The Child’s programs are stressed families, children at risk, child victims of abuse and neglect, and the families and community members that care for them, according to the organization.
