nutcracker.jpgTickets are on sale now for the Long Beach Ballet’s production of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, which returns to the Long Beach Performing Arts Center on Friday, Dec. 21 through Sunday, Dec. 23.
Produced and choreographed by artistic director David Wilcox, the full-length show features world-famous dancers along with the Long Beach Ballet students. The production includes its trademark “flying sleigh,” as well as exciting pyrotechnics, all set to Tchaikovsky’s traditional music score.
Long Beach Ballet is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in Long Beach. Under the guidance of Wilcox, graduates of the school have moved on to some of the world’s leading dance companies including the San Francisco Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, New York Ballet Theatre and the Hamburg Ballet in Germany.
“The Nutcracker has always been a family favorite and a wonderful way to celebrate the season,” said Dan Spellends, Director of Theaters & Entertainment for the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. “We are pleased that the Long Beach Ballet is bringing this holiday classic back to the Terrace theater.”
The ballet is scheduled for four performances total. Show times for The Nutcracker are Friday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. and an evening performance at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m.
