In response to dubious use of Long Beach taxpayer money for Measure A street improvements letter in Oct. 18 issue, the most obvious misuse of Measure A funds are all these traffic roundabouts in Long Beach that majority of people hate for traffic confusion they cause. And then these roundabouts all have landscaping that requires more taxpayer money to maintain.
Furthermore, why did city have to put in fancy decorative street lights along Willow Street in Wrigley area? Along sidewalk in same area, more city taxpayer money was wasted for putting in trees that greatly reduce walking room on sidewalk. Again, more landscape means more money to upkeep in the future.
More Measure A funds dumped into sudden rush to concrete pave dirt alleys in Wrigley that never seemed to be a problem for neighborhoods.
Mayor Robert Garcia runs City of Long Beach like his own private boutique shop where only the most expensive things must be offered. This results in perpetual tax and fee increases to feed Mayor Garcia’s reckless spending habits. Trouble is one day there won’t be any more left to tax and City of Long Beach’s finances will collapse like a pyramid scheme.
For all these snowballing taxes for extension of contractor goldmine ballot measures, Mayor Garcia expects to be rewarded to become lieutenant governor and then governor of California to make whole state his trendy private boutique shop.
