The Bixby Strollers walking group celebrated its seventh anniversary on Saturday, Jan. 17. Over the last seven years the Strollers have walked an estimated 1,383 miles— the equivalent of 52 marathons or walking to Wichita, Kansas, according to Blair Cohn, executive director of the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association, which hosts the group. “Seven years is really amazing,” Cohn said. “I had no idea of the group’s longevity when we started, but I am truly thankful for the consistent turnout each weekend. The group has grown stronger, and we continue to get new folks all the time— new residents, families or people who have wanted to come join up for a long time.” The group, which is open to the public, meets every Saturday morning at 7:15am at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, 4105 Atlantic Ave.
