As a part of the City of Long Beach Peace Week activities, Mayor Bob Foster, Sixth District Councilmember Dee Andrews, and other dignitaries will lead the 5th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Candlelight Peace March on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 5pm, at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 1950 Lemon Ave.
In an effort to lift the consciousness of the community about King’s legacy and principles, more than a week of activities designed to unify the community are being organized by: Andrews; the Peace Week Committee; the City of Long Beach Department of Health & Human Services; Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine; and the City of Long Beach Human Dignity Program. The candlelight peace march is an opportunity for the community to come together to promote peace throughout local neighborhoods.
“This Peace March provides the community an opportunity to stand united,” said Councilmember Dee Andrews. “Walking together, we represent peace, love, and understanding, which is the true meaning of community.”
