Two weeks ago, the Signal Tribune announced its community-focused project “Pictures from the People” and our readers amazed us with vibrant California poppies from throughout Long Beach and beyond.

Right, Pink California poppies are in full bloom in a native-plant front yard from Michelle Rogers. Middle, A mini super bloom on a sidewalk in Bixby Knolls from Birgit De La Torre. Left, Orange California poppies are in full bloom in a native-plant front yard from Michelle Rogers.
For our second edition of Pictures from the People, we’d like to spotlight your favorite furry family member.
This photo prompt has some caveats: please send in photos of a pup you’ve rescued from a shelter, pound or streets or big dog breeds such as pitbulls, huskies, great danes, retrievers and more.

The Signal Tribune is hoping to bring attention to all of the dogs available for adoption at Long Beach Animal Care Services, especially the large dogs that are having a hard time finding a home. We’ll be sure to circle back around to spotlight small dogs, cats and other pets at a later date!
Please include your pet’s name and extra points if they came from the Long Beach shelter. Entries can be sent to Newspaper@SignalTribune.com or through our Instagram page @SignalTribune.
