The Long Beach Playhouse hosted its 23rd annual Summer Youth Workshop last month, educating children ages 7 to 16 in the arts of acting, music and dance.
At the end of the five-week workshop, 60 young actors and actresses performed a Broadway Revue to a full house that included family members and friends.
During the training, workshop instructors Terra Taylor Knudson, Victoria Baker and Andrew Zacharias guided the students through preparation for the big day.
Acting classes included improvisation and scene study. Dance classes consisted of musical comedy dance techniques and music classes included vocal projection, enunciation, song preparation and performance.
Students also explored the themes of team and self-esteem building, vocal and physical technique and production basics as they worked together to produce a mini musical production. Their hard work paid off as parents and friends honored their performance with a standing ovation.
