On Wednesday, April 19, at approximately 9pm, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were dispatched to a possible shooting in the 500 block of Cherry Avenue that resulted in the death of a male adult.
Arriving officers located a man who had sustained a gunshot injury. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim, in critical but stable condition, to a local hospital. The male adult suspect fled before officers arrived. The incident does not appear to be random.
On April 20, police were notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
The Los Angeles County Coroner will make positive identification and notify next of kin.
A motive for the shooting has yet to be determined, and the investigation remains ongoing.
