Police seeking public's help identifying financial-crime suspect

The Long Beach Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a man suspected of using fraudulent documentation to acquire a loan.

On Tuesday, June 2, the suspect applied for an auto loan with a lending company located in central Long Beach. He used an altered Department of Motor Vehicles certificate of title form, along with fraudulent documents including a driver’s license, utility bill, proof of insurance and pay stubs. He also used an unsuspecting victim’s name, date of birth and Social Security number, according to police.
He was able to obtain a $15,000 loan under these false pretenses, and, once the loan was approved, he went to a money-transfer business in Torrance and received the loan proceeds in cash.
The man is suspected of committing multiple felony crimes, including identity theft, forgery, perjury, conspiracy, grand theft and burglary.
