Poll workers needed for primary election

Secretary of State Alex Padilla issued a statement last week urgin Californians to serve as Election Day poll workers for the June 7 Presidential Primary Election.
Poll workers set up and close polling places, help voters understand their rights and protect the integrity of ballots and voting equipment.
“Poll workers play a vital role in our elections,” Padilla said. “County elections officials need dedicated poll workers to ensure smooth and successful elections. Serving as a poll worker is a great way to support our democracy, serve the community and learn about the election process.
Californians get to assist their communities and get a front-row view into the election process. You can earn while you learn—poll workers are paid for their work.”
County elections officials in California have reported that they are still in need of both English-speaking and bilingual poll workers for the election. Those interested in serving as poll workers should contact their county elections office to sign up. Positions are available in all parts of the state.
High school students also have the opportunity to serve as poll workers. Students must be 16 years old by Election Day and have a 2.5 GPA in order to serve as poll workers.
