Pooch’s birthday party to benefit local charity

rosie.jpgJustin Rudd and his nonprofit Community Action Team (CAT) will celebrate Rosie the Bulldog’s 10th birthday at a charity fundraiser Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the new restaurant On the Mark, located at 335 Nieto Avenue in Long Beach.
As part of its grand opening, the restaurant will host the free birthday party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to benefit CAT. Organizers ask for a tax-deductible donation to CAT to help pay for the evening’s meals and drinks and gifts for Rosie. In addition to regular table service, appetizer-sized menu items will be featured.
Rosie, according to Rudd, is the reason he organized and continues to organize community pet events such as the Haute Dog Easter, Operation Santa Paws and the Bulldog Beauty Contest. It was because of Rosie that Rudd led the effort to establish the only off-leash dog beach in Los Angeles County, the Long Beach Dog Zone, and she and Rudd are featured in a book about men and their dogs.
Rudd invites “dog lovers, CAT lovers, and anyone who has ever enjoyed one of CAT’s events or programs or who has had a smile put on their face by Rosie the Bulldog” to attend, but only human guests allowed. For more information, contact Justin Rudd at (562) 439-3316 or e-mail JustinRudd@aol.com.
