Come dressed in your best lederhosen for Port City Tavern’s 2nd Annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 28.
For the celebration, the bar’s parking lot will be decked out in Oktoberfest regalia to raise money for St. Baldrick’s Foundation as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Port City Tavern’s inaugural fundraiser in 2023 fundraised over $3,000, and this year they hope to more than double that amount with a fundraising goal of $8,000.
The fundraiser will include a variety of Oktoberfest-themed activities and features, including a biergarten, food, live music, games, contests and prizes, including one for “most authentic dress.”
“We’re excited and honored to be hosting this Oktoberfest fundraiser for the second year in a row,” said Dylan Davis, owner of Port City Tavern, in a public statement. “This event not only brings people together for a day of fun and great music, but it also supports an incredibly important cause. With the help of our generous community, we’re confident we can reach—and hopefully exceed—our fundraising goal for St. Baldrick’s!”
The event will feature a special silent auction, with proceeds going to St. Baldrick’s. Also, local barber and child cancer survivor Hayley Mackanin, also known as Hair Hunny, will be doing free head shaves on people to demonstrate solidarity with child cancer patients.
“As a two-time childhood brain cancer survivor turned small business owner, I’m so excited to barber at the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest for St. Baldrick’s,” said Hayley Mackanin of Hair Hunny in a public statement. “I’m looking forward to shaving heads and raising money for this incredible foundation that funds childhood cancer research.”
Community members who want their head shaved by Mackanin can sign up ahead of time and create a fundraising page to collect donations online at portcitytavernlb.com/oktoberfest.
The event is free for attendees of all ages, but access to the main bar is restricted to guests ages 21+.
