Emergencies aren’t fun, but for children, learning to deal with them can be.
The Greater Long Beach Chapter (GLBC) of the American Red Cross is offering a two-day SAFE Kids Summer Day Camp that teaches life-saving skills to children ages 7 to 12.
Taught by specially trained GLBC youth volunteers, SAFE Kids’ lessons are presented in an interactive environment with hands-on activities and games.
SAFE Kids focuses on youth safety at home, at school and in the playground. Lessons include: emergency preparedness, basic first aid, bicycle and pedestrian safety, basic water safety, and stranger/ abduction awareness.
The camp fee is $50 per child and includes a camp T-shirt, a reference book, safety supplies, and a pizza lunch both days.
The GLBC will offer two more sessions of the SAFE Kids Summer Day Camp: August 28-29 and August 30-31. The camp is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the Will J. Reid Scout Park in Long Beach.
