The body of Douglas Clifford Grant, a Long Beach resident, was found in the Barstow desert a few weeks after he went missing, according to police.
The remains of a 79-year-old Long Beach man who went missing the morning of July 19, 2018 were found in the Barstow Desert on Aug. 7, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
The LBPD indicated this week that the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, who found Douglas Clifford Grant’s body, notified local police of the discovery on Aug. 18.
The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Coroner Office will determine the official cause of death.
On July 24, family members received a notification from the California Highway Patrol indicating that Grant’s vehicle– a tan 2008 Toyota pick-up– had been towed for being abandoned on the westbound I-40 Freeway between mile markers 42 and 43. There had been no activity with any of his bank cards nor his cell phone since he left his residence.
