The City of Long Beach is asking residents to share their opinion on what changes should be made to MacArthur Park in Cambodia Town.
The MacArthur Park Improvements Survey became available online on Aug. 22 and will be open until Sept. 12.
The survey includes questions such as:
- What type of sport would you like to see on the multi-purpose lawn?
- What type of event do you envision the multi-purpose lawn be used for?
- What type of playground elements would you like to see in the playground?
- What type of walking trail would you like to see?
- What other elements would you like to see around the trail?
The survey is part of the MacArthur Park Vision Plan, funded by an $8.5 million grant by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. In February 2022, the City hired a landscape architect to design improvements to MacArthur Park.
According to the City’s website, the survey was created so that residents can help the City “finalize the park design before construction begins.”
From summer 2022 to fall 2022, the City will carry out community engagement and site investigations for the MacArthur Park Vision Plan, according to the online survey. In 2023, detailed design, documentation, permitting and construction will begin.
