“All of the children at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach enjoy when the firemen visit, especially when they bring Santa with them,” said Rita Goshert, manager of Child Life. “Our patients and families all thank the heroes of the Long Beach Fire Department for their time and generosity.”
The firefighters’ visit was made possible through the Long Beach Fire Department Kid’s Program, whose mission is to enhance the lives and well being of the children at Miller Children’s. This visit, and many others like it, are coordinated with the Child Life Department at Miller Children’s. Child Life specialists plan individualized and group programs that help children adjust to their hospital stay and promote the continuity of normal, daily childhood activities.
