Last Wednesday afternoon, Schaier’s Nissan of Long Beach, 1800 E. Spring St., announced it has closed its doors. Owner Terry Schaier made the decision Tuesday and told his employees at 3pm on Wednesday.
“My dad and I scraped together our personal money to pay our employees,” Schaier said. “It’s just another example of what’s going on in this country. We’ve been working with Nissan and our bank desperately, and the bank gave us word that they will not help us.”
Schaier said he will continue to occupy the site for several more months. “It’s going to take two or three months to get everything sold off,” he said. “The hardest part for my dad and me is our people. They gave us seven years of their lives.”
