Third to sixth-grade students with an interest in marine life are invited to explore the local marine environment by enrolling in Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s after-school Science Education Afternoons (SEA) Club. The SEA club is offered for four consecutive Mondays beginning Jan. 7 through Feb. 4 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Under the guidance of the aquarium’s education staff, kids have the opportunity to have fun as they discover the surrounding habitats and inhabitants of the Cabrillo Beach Coastal Park. Their live animals, preserved specimen collections (shells, fish, fossils, bones, etc.), lab, field equipment and library will be utilized for instruction. The aquarium will be the base station for ocean exploration.
The cost for four weekly sessions is $27 for Cabrillo Friends members and $30 for non-members. The price includes an SEA Club T-shirt and financial assistance is available.
Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is located at 3720 Stephen M White Drive in San Pedro. Call them at (310) 548-7562 or visit www.cabrilloaq.org.
