In honor of Take Your Dog to Work Day last Friday, Katie Ruiz of MadKat Inc. was accompanied to her Signal Hill office by Candy (left). Ruiz’ talented and intelligent companion was rescued cold and hungry in an area park in 2000. Efforts to find Candy’s original owners came up empty; she has been a loyal member of the Ruiz family ever since.

Pet Sitters International (www.petsit.com) promotes Take Your Dog to Work Day each year in an effort to celebrate what great companions dogs make, and bolster pet adoptions from shelters, humane societies and rescue groups.
