SH Chamber announces new board

The Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce has announced Bart J. DeLio, a local insurance agent and business owner as its new president for the 2007-08 fiscal year. DeLio, excited about the opportunity, is eager to lead the chamber through what he calls a “time of transition.”
“Signal Hill has always been a small city with a great small-town feel,” said DeLio. “But the city has grown very rapidly over the last few years and the chamber’s challenge is to keep that small-town feeling but still be of value to our new residents and businesses.”
In addition to Mr. DeLio as President, the executive board for the coming year includes Jim Mills-Winkler as 1st vice president, Chuck Pine as second vice president, Anna Attardo as treasurer, secretary Katie Ruiz, past president Ivy Leeson and legal counsel Denise Damrow.
The Chamber’s goals include expanding the membership as well as increasing the number of events that they put on in order to give local business people more opportunities to meet.
“We did our first social mixer of the year this last month and it was very successful,” said DeLio. “Our goal was to get people out that cannot get to our normal monthly meetings, and that is exactly what happened.”
Recognizing the possibilities of outreach with the internet, the Chamber unveiled its new Web site Oct. 1, providing a place where anyone who wants to do business in Signal Hill can go for information.
