After it successfully opened six days prior, Signal Hill’s new Dollar Tree store celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10am. Attending the event were several locals, Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce members, area dignitaries and representatives of Dollar Tree.
“As a retailer, to have the turnout we had was very exciting,” said Dollar Tree District Manager Scott Paluck. “The customers have shown an overwhelming response to our dollar items, and we appreciate their support and enthusiasm.”
Paluck headed the store’s grand opening with a plethora of giveaways, including hot dogs, popcorn, soda, and drawings for gift baskets. “Out of 36 stores that were opened that day nationwide, we received the greatest response here in Signal Hill,” he said.
The store is located at the Signal Hill Gateway Center, 3075 California Ave. “I’m thrilled,” said Gary Jones, Community Development director for Signal Hill. “We now have all the larger retail space filled with the addition of Dollar Tree. Ross Dress for Less will be coming soon, and that will occupy the space the recently closed Circuit City used to fill. With those openings, other tenants will be attracted to open their businesses at the center. We’ve been in talks with In & Out Burger and Starbucks. The center is building momentum and is becoming a more viable and successful business center.”
