The City of Signal Hill and Signal Hill Disposal will help make the chore of spring-cleaning a bit easier for residents. Free of charge, during the week of April 20-24, Signal Hill residents will be able to set out bulky items at the curb for collection. Bulky items include items that are too large or heavy to set out on your regular rubbish collection day, such as:
Appliances Mattresses Misc. household clutter
Water heaters Furniture Brush & tree trimmings
Wheelbarrows Lawnmowers Bicycles
Curtain rods
“We are pleased to provide this free service to our residents,” said Signal Hill Mayor Ellen Ward. “This is the first of two cleanups scheduled for 2009.”
To take advantage of the cleanup event, residents may simply place bulky items next to their automated waste carts on regularly scheduled collection days. Residents living in apartment or condominium communities can take part in Cleanup Week by calling Signal Hill Disposal at (562) 597-0608 to schedule a special pick-up.
Electronic or “E” waste (e.g., computer monitors, printers, cell phones), and household hazardous waste (household cleaners, automotive fluids/batteries, lawn & garden care products) are not accepted during the Cleanup Week. For the proper disposal of these items, visit http://www.lacsd.org for household hazardous waste and E-waste events sponsored by the Sanitation District of Los Angeles County.
