luncheon hosted by the Signal Hill Police Department to recognize its volunteers.
“You are great ambassadors for the police department into the community we serve,” SHPD Chief Michael Langston told the volunteers during the event. “We are all aware that there a great number of events we could not participate in without your help.”
A press release from the SHPD stated, “While we value all of the members of the volunteer program, a select few received specific recognition.” Those individuals included: Gary Weinberger, who has contributed 9,000-plus hours of service during his SHPD volunteer career; Judie Jacobus, for organizing and communicating important information to the other members of the program; and Aldo Zanier, Ron Griggs, Weinberger, Jack Schumann and John Leahy for their past and current military service.
Vice Mayor Larry Forester, Councilmember Tina Hansen, Councilmember Lori Woods and Deputy City Manager Charlie Honeycutt also attended the luncheon in support of the honorees.
