SHPD implements emergency alert messaging system

In the event of an emergency, such as a major earthquake, local disruptions, floods, or water main breaks, the Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) can now send out brief personalized messages to Signal Hill residents and businesses by telephone. The message, sent through the messaging service Blackboard Connect, would provide information regarding the event, as well as instructions to be followed in the aftermath. The system has the capability to use phone, text and email messages to alert residents and businesses when there is an emergency situation in their area.
To participate, Signal Hill residents and business owners should email sackman@cityofsignalhill.org or call (562) 989-7218 with their business/residence name, address and a phone number. Residents and businesses can also register their cell phone numbers and email addresses at http://alert.lacounty.gov.
