SHPD searching for convenience-store robber

On Friday, Feb. 6, at approximately 2:28pm, a male suspect wearing a labcoat and surgical mask robbed a convenience store, known as Munchies at 2331 Orange Ave., at gunpoint, according to information the Signal Tribune obtained from the social-media service Nixle.
The suspect, described as a Hispanic or Filipino man who is 5 feet 7 inches tall, pointed a black, long barrel revolver, possibly a Colt Python with a 10-inch barrel, at the cashier, according to information the Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) posted on Nixle.
As he pointed the gun, he told the cashier to open the register and give him money or he would shoot, according to police. The cashier was unable to open the register and the suspect fled the location in a blue, 2006 or 2007 Ford Fusion with a black paper plate with white lettering on the front.
The suspect is described as having a thick build and is approximately 20 to 30 years old, with dark, short hair. He was last seen wearing a white, long sleeve lab coat over a black shirt, black pants, black shoes and wearing a white surgical mask over his face.
Those with information are asked to contact SHPD Detective Kelli Brown by calling (562) 989-7215 or emailing kbrown@signalhillpd.org .
